A “Rising Star” in both the (2018) Music & Beyond festival and the (2017) Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, Serbian-Canadian violinist Maria Krstic has a dedicated following impressed by her virtuosity and expressive style.

In 2018, Maria won the National Arts Centre Orchestra Crabtree Foundation Bursary Award. Distinguished by Canadian Music Competition judges for her “meticulously intelligent and touching playing”, Maria Krstic has thrice placed first nationally, most recently in 2017. In 2016, she was the youngest competitor to reach the semi-finals at l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal’s prestigious Manulife Competition. 

Studying since age four under Serhii Vyhovskyi and Olena Vyhovska, Maria Krstic has benefited from working with Boris Kuschnir, Pierre Amoyal, Pavel Vernikov, Stephan Picard, Yosuke Kawasaki, Ulf Wallin, Helge Slaatto, Patinka Kopec, Jonathan Crow, Yehonatan Berick, Mayumi Seiler, and Jovan Kolundzija. In 2016, she attended Austrian Masterclasses with Ute Hasenauer. Following summer studies at the (2018) Orford Music Academy with Mauricio Fuks, Maria then studied at the International Music Workshop & Festival in Schloss Kirchberg an der Jagst, Germany.

 

Maria Krstic holds the Royal Conservatory of Music’s highest academic standing, the Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT) Diploma in Violin Performance.

Concerts, and competitions have taken Maria to stages across Canada and to Europe - Austria, Germany, and Serbia. She has presented annual solo recitals since 2010, performs regularly at concerts of the Young Strings Performers’ Foundation, has been a featured soloist with the Kanata Symphony Orchestra, and as part of the Canadian Tulip Festival’s concert series. Maria performed in Canadian Music Competition Winners concerts, and as a concertmaster, and a soloist with the Vyhovskyi Strings Ensemble. She gives her time and talent in support of a variety of charitable causes, both local and global. 

She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree with Professor Boris Brovtsyn at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien (Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna).
